Vancouver has a rich and diverse history as the oldest permanent non-native settlement in the Pacific Northwest. This half day tour will take you to back in time with visits to Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, Pearson Air Museum, Officers Row and more.
9:00 a.m. Visit Officers Row and tour General George C. Marshall House. Built in 1886 and named for General George C. Marshall who resided there 1936-1938, this house is a shining example of Queen Anne Victorian style architecture. Visitors can tour parts of the house and view exhibits centered on General Marshall.
10:00 a.m. Visit and tour pre-World War II aviation history at Pearson Air Museum, located next to the oldest continually operating airfield in the United States. Learn about aviation history accomplishments in the area, view airplanes from WWII and earlier, and learn about the science of flight with hands on exhibits at this 23,500 sq. ft. museum.
11:00 a.m. Visit and tour Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, established in
1825 by the British-based Hudson’s Bay as the headquarters of their
fur trading network throughout the Pacific Northwest. Guests will enjoy seeing the blacksmiths at work, the fur warehouse, the Chief Factor’s house and the new Counting House. Plan a tour around one of the many special events and reenactments.
12:15 p.m. Enjoy waterfront dining along the Columbia River or at any of Clark County’s unique restaurants.
Optional - Walking Tour of Esther Short Park and Vancouver Farmers Market or make it a full day by adding on tours of the three local wineries in the area and/or a culinary tour at the historic Vancouver Barracks.
