Travel Still an
American Necessity
With record-high fuel prices, a weakening economy and airline capacity cuts, travel this summer is expected to decline only slightly to 211.5 million passengers from 214.2 million passengers who traveled during the summer of 2007, according to the Air Transport Association of America’s summer forecast released earlier this week.

Mariner Event
a Huge Win for All

On April 22nd, the Southwest Washington Convention & Visitors Bureau sales team hosted 38 meeting professionals and their guests at a Seattle Mariners baseball game at Safeco Field.  To kick off the event, there was a pre-game reception in the Mariners’ bullpen which included several raffle drawings for Vancouver hotel stays and restaurant gift certificates that were graciously donated by Clark County hospitality community partners.

The Seattle metro area is a great source of meeting and convention business for the Vancouver area. This event gave the Bureau sales team the opportunity to show appreciation for their current clients in the Seattle area, as well as network with other meeting professionals from corporations, associations and non-profit organizations that are likely future clients.

Here is what one attendee had to say about the event:

“Thank you so much for inviting me to your event at the Mariners’ game last night.  We had such a great time.  I will certainly keep SW Washington and your various facilities in mind when planning events for the two groups that I work with.”
~ D. Oldham, National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials -Pacific Northwest Regional Council.

The event was a huge success and to top it off, the Mariners won!
